PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Rhode Island's attorney general says the I-195 Redevelopment District Commission has agreed to pay a $1,000 fine for a violation of the state's open meetings law.
A consent judgment signed Tuesday says the commission acknowledged violating the state Open Meetings Act by failing to post a notice on the secretary of state's website of its July 8 meeting with the required 48 hours' notice. The commission posted the notice the same day the meeting was held.
Common Cause filed a complaint with Attorney General Peter Kilmartin's office, which then filed suit.
The judgment was signed by Kilmartin's office and a lawyer representing the 195 Commission.
With the payment of the $1,000 civil fine, the case is dismissed.
