New "Solo" Movie Not Something I'm Looking Forward To

The new and latest trailer for "Solo: A Star Wars Story" came out last night, and while it was better than the previous trailers, it still misses the mark.  We see more of Alden Ehrenreich's Han Solo talking, walking, and in action, and that's a problem. It becomes more and more obvious that he does not remotely embody the character created by the legendary Harrison Ford (unlike YouTube Harrison Ford/Han Solo impersonator star, Anthony Ingruber, who NAILS Solo and who I don't know why was not cast).  Part of it is Ehrenreich's problem - he just doesn't bear much of a physical resemblance to Ford/Solo nor does he have the mannerisms and speech patterns down) which I guess could also be partly director Ron Howard's dropping the ball), but a big part of the problem belongs to the screenwriters.  Now, Lawrence Kasdan is a BRILLIANT screenwriter, but, in "Solo", he and his son, co-writer Jon Kasdan, failed to capture the cool style and humor exhibited by Ford's Solo over the course of four "Star Wars" films. Ehrenreich's humor is more jokey.  Ford's was subtle, dry, and sarcastic.

As for the story of "Solo" from what can be gleaned from the trailer?  That's up in the air.  It looks like your typical origin story, introducing now-familiar characters like Chewie, Lando, and the classic ship, the Millenium Falcon, etc., along with a crop of unknown characters who shaped the future of the Han we all came to know and love.  Stylistically, the film looks good - good effects, a nice, raw feel more reminiscent of "Rogue One" as opposed to the sleeker look and feel of "The Force Awakens" or the god awful "The Last Jedi".

I guess that's the major takeaway - the guy playing Solo may not be as good as the original, the writing may have holes in it especially as far as character development, but hopefully, PLEASE, I BEG Disney's Lucasfilm, the new masters of the "Star Wars" universe, to NEVER release "Solo" if it sucks even HALF as bad as "The Last Jedi".  If it does suck even nearly that bad, go back to the drawing board, and keep Rian Johnson away from the rewrites!

Hope I'm wrong and "Solo" is a great film, but I'm not counting on it.  Reply on Facebook if you disagree and tell me why!
