We are always complaining about how our company edits out the lyrics that are deemed 'offensive' with some of the songs we play but....that's NOTHING compared to the decisions made back in the day! In 1967 the Stones were red hot and got the biggest invite for every artist, appearing on The Ed Sullivan Show. Literally, half the country would watch each Sunday night so everyone was treated to Mick Jagger with the greatest 'eye roll' of all time as he was forced to change the lyrics of what was deemed a highly offensive lyric!!!
