It’s Not Franchy’s Fault

Yes 3 errors in the same game is embarrassing ….

And Franchy Cordero will have to live with that….

But let’s not blame him alone for this clown show….

Franchy is an outfielder….an average one….great speed….average skills….nothing special defensively… He is NOT a first baseman…..

The last place you want to learn on the job is at the major league level… The Red Sox have had opportunities to sign a veteran first baseman while they wait for first round prospect Triston Casas…( ie…Anthony Rizzo)….

But instead they have chosen to fill in the gap while they wait with non first baseman ….Franchy, Dalbec and Kyle Schwarber ( last year) Casas is not ready…. Injuries and performance below expectation have pushed his MLB arrival date back…..

Go get a serviceable first baseman before the deadline….

For me….For Sox fans….and most of all, for Franchy….😁

By the way….

3 errors in one game is not an MLB record….

From what I could find the record is 5…. From a player in the late 1800’s…although that is debated…..

Tommy John had 3 errors on one play once… He booted a ground ball hit in front of the mound….then threw it over Don Mattingly’s head into right field….then Dave Winfield threw it toward the plate trying to throw out a runner….John, still out in front of the mound, cut the throw off and threw it over the catcher’s head

3 errors in 12 seconds….all by Tommy John….

Makes Franchy look a little better……a little…..😁
