Who knew? John Mellencamp is an artist…and so good that he has an exhibit right now at the New York Academy of Art. He’s always painted but it wasn’t until Bob Dylan was at his house and told him his work was great and had to get out into the public. Mellencamp asked Dylan how to go about it and Bob said 'I know a guy who knows a guy, who knows a guy. And that’s how Mellencamp began displaying and selling art. As he puts it, "I paint pretty rough paintings, I try to keep them raw and primitive. They’re like my songs: grotesquely beautiful." There's a lot more to John Mellencamp than meets the eye.
