Stewart Copeland of The Police admits he was pretty bad on the drums when he and Sting first hooked up. He's coming out with a book, "Stewart Copeland, Police Diaries", and he says, “Sting and I couldn't believe our luck when we had managed to hornswoggle the mighty Andy Summers – premier quadruple-scale session guitarist – to join our fake punk band. The main thing I’ve learned from looking back is how we stuck together. Sting and I suffered for two years – we literally starved – and then Andy joined us and opened up our musical universe. This was before ‘Roxanne;’ before Sting himself had any idea that he could write great songs." Stewart says he recently asked Andy, "What were you thinking joining up with us?" He said, "I don’t know, mate. I should have stuck with Neil Sedaka's band!"
