Thanks to modern medicine, short guys don't have to accept being born short. Several diminutive men under, say, 5'5" have been willing to pay $75,000 or so for "leg lengthening" surgery that can add, in some cases, three inches to their height. In addition to being very expensive, the surgery is very painful with a long recovery period, but some vertically-challenged men think it's worth it, as data shows that tall men generally make much more money over the course of their careers than shorter men. Plus women seem to prefer taller men when dating.
