According to the folks over at Mental Floss, the following 13 terms are the slang words we need to know.
- The AMP (used to be the Dunk)
- Awful Awful (you know what it is)
- Bubblah (it's spelled with an "e-r" but let's allow them to be annoying once)
- The Bucket (the official name of Pawtucket)
- Cabinet (didn't we already have an Awful Awful on this list?)
- Dandle (they also numbered this one #5...it's our term for see-saw)
- Downcity (it's downtown Providence in case we forgot)
- Grindah (again, spelled with an "e-r" and we already gave them one of these "a-h" numbers)
- Hot Wiener (3 all the way?)
- Pizza Strip (they said it doesn't have cheese but I detect some Parmesan on that!)
- ProJo (whoa...they're still printing that paper? Kidding...let's all re-subscribe)
- South County (if you live north of Warwick you consider this any place further south of Warwick Mall)
- Stone Ender (a house with a stone chimney along the outside wall)
So what did they miss?
Obviously car-b-q's, gagger, quahog, wicked, referring to anywhere as near the old Alma's, not knowing exit numbers (I know they just changed...you're now forgiven"! But seriously...this list must be longer!
