This week marks the 45th anniversary of Def Leppard's very first concert... they played for their local high school, they made the impressive sum of 5 pounds! The guys in the band say that the 5 pound note came right out of the pocket of their history teacher who was in charge of the school dance. The set included a couple of covers of their favorite band back in the day...Thin Lizzy. Joe Elliot says they successfully smuggled a case of beer backstage using the bass drum! And he said they didn't quite understand the electrical connections so when they hit their first big note.... nothing. Five minutes later the amps got plugged in and, as they say, the rest is rock and roll history.
We think this is the first video from a very young Def Leppard. Pretty different than what they'd evolve into... interesting!
