ZZ Top Drummer Frank Beard Stepping Away for Now Due to Health Issues

ZZ Top's founding drummer Frank Beard (famously the only member without a beard) has, "temporarily stepped away from the current tour to attend to a health issue requiring his focus in the near term," according to a band spokesman.

Much like ZZ Top did in 2021 when bassist Dusty Hill passed away and his tech Elwood Francis stepped in, the band has turned to longtime tech member, percussionist and drummer John Douglas to fill in.

The spokesman added, "Beard is looking forward to a speedy recovery."
