Viral Mugshot Has Woman Getting Makeup Tip Requests

A former Texas A&M University student has turned into an internet sensation after her mugshot from earlier this year went viral. Marshala Perkins was arrested for possession of marijuana on Feb. 6, 2018, and booked at the Hunt County Jail. She just happened to have been bored earlier that night and did a makeup tutorial on Facebook Live before heading out to party with friends, according to the Star-Telegraph. The flawless makeup look was still in tact when her mugshot was taken.

Two months after her arrest, her mugshot was picked up by the Twitter account Mugshot Baes, which has accumulated over 80,000 followers. Perkins admits she was initially embarrassed about her mugshot being circulated around online, however, she eventually changed her outlook on the whole debacle.

“I really thought it was funny because I know with those pages somebody has to submit it,” Perkins told the Star-Telegraph. “I’m thinking, ‘Who over here is thinking I’m cute enough to be on this page?'”

As Perkins's mugshot continued to spread, people began reaching out to her for makeup tips. “When I started reading the comments I was like, besides me being in jail people are really noticing my talent and what I can do,” she said, realizing the silver lining to the unfortunate events that transpired on Feb. 6.

Since the photo went viral, Perkins has launched her own YouTube channel, as well as an Instagram dedicated to her makeup looks. Perkins has even been approached about starting her own makeup line.

“It’s crazy. My mind is blown," Perkins said. "Now it’s turned into something so positive so I’m just going to embrace it and see where it takes me.”
