This Foo Fighters Music Video Is the "Smells Like Teen Spirit" Antithesis

Nirvana's iconic "Smells Like Teen Spirit" music video recently celebrated its 27th birthdaybut the band's former drummer and current Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl's got a different view on life now, nearly three decades later.

During a recent interview with PBS, the rockstar laughed about how the video he directed last year for Foo Fighters' "Run" is the "antithesis" of the famed '90s visuals he was also a part of.

“We want to be the band that is rocking a show at a nursing home and it turns into a riot. It was funny because it then turned into the antithesis of the ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ video that Nirvana made 27 years ago," he explained. "Here you have a high school gymnasium, and you’ve got all of these principals and teachers trying to keep the kids in line. But in the nursing home, you’ve got these people, these elderlies, that are overtaking the guards. It’s kind of the opposite.”

"Run" can be found on the Foo Fighters' 2017 album Gold and Concrete, which they're still touring on.

Watch both the "Run" and "Smells Like Teen Spirit" music videos, as well as the full PBS special, below (Grohl's segment begins at the 46-minute mark).
