Updated Saturday 3/14 1:40pm

Six more Rhode Islanders have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total number of those infected in the state to 20. Governor Gina Raimondo and RI Dept. of Health Director Dr. Nicole Alexander-Scott announced the new cases in a press conference on Saturday at 12:30pm. Alexander-Scott said that the cases include four males and two females between the ages of 30 and 70, and involve three separate trips, two of which were outside the U.S.

The Governor not only reiterated her plea to cancel large gatherings of 250 people or more, but also advised Rhode Islanders to "avoid going out," and to "stay home." Yesterday Dr. Alexander-Scott announced that approximately 80 people per day are being tested for the virus in Rhode Island. Gov. Raimondo and Dr. Alexander-Scott plan to hold daily briefings until further notice.
