Why: Philanthropy plays an important role in The Miriam Hospital’s ability to offer extra programs and supports for its patients across cancer care, neuroscience, and women’s health, and also provides funding for resources that support innovative care and groundbreaking research. The Miriam Hospital Gala & Auction is the hospital’s largest annual fundraiser.
What’s Happening?
After several postponements, everything looked promising for The Miriam to host an in-person event on September 11 until the recent rise in transmission rates of the highly contagious Delta variant of COVID-19 and modeling that suggests a peak is likely in mid- to late-September.
With the health and well-being of its community the hospital’s highest priority, The Miriam has made the difficult – yet necessary – decision to go virtual with this year’s event.
But don’t clear that calendar just yet…. The show will still go!
The Miriam is setting the stage for a fun, action-packed, and meaningful event that will be streamed LIVE from the Water Fire Arts Center on Saturday, September 11. A pre-show begins at 6:30 p.m. and the live show starts promptly at 7 p.m. And you’re invited to register for the NO-COST-TO-ATTEND event now.
The abbreviated event will still feature all of the elements people expect from a Miriam Hospital gala:
· Pre-event and live bidding on a selection of awesome auction items;
· Hear a moving story from a patient, his family, and his team of physicians about the impact of clinical cancer trials and the hospital’s plans to create The Center for Innovative Cancer Research;
· An opportunity to raise your virtual paddle during the live “Fund-a-Need” blitz to help make the Center a reality; and
· LIVE ENTERTAINMENT that will bring the roaring 20s to you…. Through your screen!
Dollars raised through the event’s auctions and “Fund-a-Need” will support the creation and staffing of The Center for Innovative Cancer Research at The Miriam Hospital to ensure that patients do not have to travel out of state – or even leave their care team – to access the most advanced cancer treatments and clinical studies available.
