Slash Details 'Intense' COVID Restrictions Guns N' Roses Followed On Tour

While this summer marked the pandemic return of live music, the struggle was far from over for many artists getting back out on the road.

Shows getting canceled or postponed last-minute became the new normal this year, which is why Guns N' Roses' 'We're F'N Back' tour was such an incredible triumph. While it seems like most acts lost at least a few gigs due to COVID, GNR persevered for over two months, performing each of its 25 scheduled U.S. gigs with its entire live back intact.

Looking back on the tour in a recent conversation with Radio Bob, Slash explained that each band member made sacrifices to give GNR the best chance of making it to the finish line.

"It was great because you had all these crowds that were super hungry for live gigs. And so it was a very energetic tour," the guitarist said. "At the same time, we also had a lot of intense restrictions. We didn't have any kind of after show guests — no guests whatsoever — and we never left the hotel pretty much the entire time. And everybody just had to really keep it together so that we didn't have somebody get sick and have to postpone the tour and all that kind of stuff. But we made it through unscathed. So it was good."

Keeping busy while spending most of his time stuck in a hotel room proved challenging, but Slash says he left himself a pile of work to keep him engaged in all the downtime.

"I did that by design because I couldn't possibly sit still for that long!" he said. "Guns N' Roses stuff...a bunch of outside sessions...and working on movie stuff."

Slash's latest album with Myles Kennedy & the Conspirators, 4, arrives in February.
