The family of a Providence man killed in a fall from a draw bridge in Milwaukee wants an independent investigation into his death and into the design of the bridge.
Richard Dujardin was crossing the bridge on foot with his wife last month when it started to open.
His wife made it across the bridge but Dujardin had to grab a railing as the middle sections opened.
He lost his grip and fell 70 feet onto the lower pavement.
A lawyer for the family says the incident was not a freak accident as Mayor Cavalier Johnson has said but rather a tragedy waiting to happen.
