Crackdown On Illegal Dirt Bikes "Crushing" Records

A tradition resumed in Providence on Thursday after a few years off.

City officials celebrated the crushing of ATVs and dirt bikes that were confiscated.

Mayor Brett Smiley says he has zero tolerance for the street-illegal vehicles, and he is warning riders ahead of the unofficial start of summer.

Smiley says the city's new community response team has seized 63 vehicles and made two-dozen arrests in about a month.

The last time the city publicly destroyed ATVs and dirt bikes was in 2020.
