Warwick Man Jailed For Home Drug Operation

A Warwick man was sentenced to nine years in federal prison on drug trafficking charges.

Fifty-five-year-old Jose Manuel Rosario Mella was arrested in 2020 by Rhode Island DEA agents.

He was found in possession of a kilogram of heroin, a loaded firearm, cash, and packing materials.

Officers found a sophisticated operation, with evidence hidden in his home, and his car, including inside the car seat used by his five-year-old child.

Rosario Mella pleaded guilty in January to possession with intent to distribute and a charge of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
