Members of the Rhode Island Police Chiefs Association and traffic safety advocates gathered at the State House Thursday to urge lawmakers to pass legislation for stricter DUI penalties and more safety initiatives.
Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha says in a world of ride shares, taxis, public transportation and designated drivers, impaired driving is completely unacceptable - and it always has been.
He says he's grateful to the state's legislative leaders, law enforcement and advocates for their efforts to keep the roads safe.
He says there is always more work to be done, and he looks forward to the continued partnerships.
