Massachusetts is one of a few states in the country that require sellers to pay for the costs of credit card fees.
But lawmakers are seeking to change that. Under the measure the seller would have to tell the buyer that they are paying more to use their credit card-- they would only be allowed to pass along the real cost of the credit and they would be required to continue discounts for cash transactions.
Most residents say that they pay enough in fees and the pass along bill is not needed.
Besides Massachusetts- Connecticut and Maine currently require sellers to eat those costs.
