Governor Dan McKee delivered his 2026 State of the State Address Tuesday night.
He started the address by reflecting on the Brown University mass shooting that claimed two lives, saying his administration is working with all Rhode Island colleges and universities to review security protocols.
McKee proposed Rhode Island's first Affordability for All agenda that he says will keep 215 million dollars in residents' pockets in the first year - and one-point-four billion dollars over the next five years.
The governor wants to create the state's first permanent child tax credit, lower the gas tax, reduce electric bill charges, lower health care costs and eliminate the tax on social security.
He also plans to continue work on housing and infrastructure upgrades.
