Rhode Island Senator Jack Reed is ripping the Trump administration for cutting nearly two-billion-dollars in health service grants.
The funding was to be used to treat and prevent addiction and provide mental health services for Americans in all 50 states.
Reed says the administration is making a cruel, careless, and counter-productive move that threatens critical services for vulnerable people experiencing mental illness, substance use and homelessness.
He says instead of helping people recover and get back on their feet, the Trump administration is pushing thousands of people into the streets and denying them the care they need.
