Brown Loves Providence Launched To Give Back To The Community

Brown University has launched a month-long effort to give back to the local community after the December mass shooting that left two dead and nine injured.

The BrownLovesProvidence initiative is meant to show gratitude to the first responders and state officials who worked around the clock after the shooting along with the businesses that provided warm meals and kind words.

Brown is grateful for neighbors who opened their doors to those needing food or a place to sleep and community partners and local alumni who ensured safe passage for students leaving campus.

The university says from now through March 16th, Brown students, faculty and staff will give, shop and volunteer locally to help express their appreciation for the selfless aid the

Providence community provided when the university needed it most.
