Rhode Island state Senator Lammis Vargas is proposing a 650-dollar refundable child tax credit to provide relief to families and help reduce child poverty.
Senator Vargas says a refundable child tax credit is real relief because it puts money directly into the hands of parents who can use it for rent, food and other family needs.
She says unlike the dependent exemption, it reaches the families who are struggling the most.
