RI Senator Announces Federal Funds For LIHEAP

Rhode Island Senator Jack Reed has announced 2-point-7-million-dollars in federal funding for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program.

Nationally, energy bills are up nearly 13-percent over the last year and programs like LIHEAP can help residents through federal grants.

Eligible households must be at or below 60-percent of Rhode Island's median income levels.

Applicants can be renters or homeowners, and they don't have to be on public assistance or have an unpaid heating bill.

Full eligibility requirements can be found on the Rhode Osland Department of Human Services web page.
