A JetBlue flight from Palm Beach, Florida, diverted from T.F. Green International Airport yesterday.
The pilot decided not to land on the shorter runway which is being used while the main runway is temporarily closed for rehabilitation work.
A spokesperson for the Rhode Island Airport Corporation said the decision to divert is solely up to the pilot based on various factors.
The spokesperson said it was the first diversion since the main runway was shut down earlier this month.
