Rhode Island's congressional delegation has announced more than 11-point-two-million-dollars in funding for port improvements at Quonset.
The federal funds will be used to upgrade port facilities, including enhanced access to terminals and improved security measures.
The funding will also support elements critical to finished automobile exports and the submarine shipbuilding supply chain.
The funds may also be used for relocation of the main port gate and construction of a new main entrance with a guard house and improvements to terminals 4 and 5.
