Legislation To Curb RI Utility Costs

There's a bill in the state Senate design to slow the rapid increase in utility bills.

It would cap how much utility companies can increase spending annually and prevent them from passing certain business expenses on to customers.

The sponsor of the bill, Newport Senator Dawn Euer, said Rhode Islanders understand the importance of sticking to a household budget and "it's time for utilities to do the same."
