Now this is a story all about how a man's life got flipped, turned upside down. And I'd like to take a minute...just sit right there! I'll tell you how this became a Twitter sensation! Sorry...I butchered it!
A man thought he boarded a train to Newark, New Jersey. However, in our lack of originality, we have named many cities with the same title. This gentleman that we speak of, was actually traveling to Newark, Delaware!
In the Tweet below, you can see how someone boarded a train for Newark. Seems reasonable. But the train was headed to the wrong state entirely. Luckily for us, people have commented about their own mishaps on the Twitter thread.
Unfortunately, I know this story all too well. I mistakenly drove from Providence all the way to the Canadian border...when I was in fact attempting to drive to Seneca Falls, NY. Now this was back in the day when Tom Tom and Garmin GPS systems were new and quite honestly seemed more expensive than they were worth. I had printed out MapQuest directions and that seemed just fine with me. But...
But I had a friend who could give me a shortcut to go around Albany as I was going to be driving during rush hour. The issue was that I never got back on the correct highway and after driving for 5 hours...I was at the Canadian border. So when I was stopped and asked for 1. my passport, and 2. where I was going, I was a little bit confused. UNTIL the Mounties laughed at me and sent me back in the opposite direction. Which I eventually made it to, 3 hours late plus an "obstructed rearview mirror" ticket which should have been a $300 ticket for speeding...but the NY State Trooper took pity on me when I told him why I was driving so fast in the first place.
Listen, we've all been there. Maybe you drove to your old apartment by mistake. Or boarded a subway headed in the wrong direction. It happens.
Check out some awesome stories from people below on how they screwed up too. :)
