Super Bowl Commercials Rarely Super

Am I the only one who is baffled every year by the excitement over the Super Bowl ads? Especially when you compare it to the main event - the Super Bowl itself. Some people watch the Super Bowl only for the commercials - they talk and eat during the game but then sit riveted in silence when the stupid commercials are rolled out - commercials that retailers, manufacturers, etc. paid way too much to an ad agency to produce and way too much to the network to air. I find 90 percent of these commercials to be over-hyped, pedestrian garbage. Maybe one or two are memorable to some extent, but, for the most part, if you aired any one of the "super" Super Bowl commercials at any other time during the year, I would look at it as just another stupid commercial. If the commercial is any good content-wise, it never accomplishes its ultimate goal with me - getting me to buy the product or service being advertised. I don't care how many celebrity cameos, special effects, horses, cars, hot chicks or whatever they cram into a :30 second or :60 spot, no stinkin' ad is going to be anything I talk about the next when compared to the biggest sporting event of the year - Patriots or no Patriots. SO, if you see me, don't ask me if I caught the Tostitos ad with Lady Gaga or whoever the hell they get to be in these things. I was likely in the place I usually am during commercials - the crapper. Which is exactly where these overrated Super Bowl commercials belong. Bring on the Eagles! That's all that matters. The rest is all distractions. Go Pats!
