Gibson Guitars just released a documentary featuring legendary guitarist Mike Campbell, founding member with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
He was asked when he got his first Gibson guitar and Mike said he was in a pawn shop and only had a hundred bucks to his name so the owner showed him an old Gibson that was so ugly that he kept it in the back room. The guitarist said the owner was happy to get rid of it for $100 and Campbell said he played it for years until Petty (who might have been stoned) accidentally sat on it and broke the neck.
