"Cheers" is definitely on a VERY short list of the most iconic, funniest, best-written, best-cast, smartest, and generation-defining sitcoms of all time. A staggering 90 million Americans who tuned into the series finale 30 years ago clearly agreed. During its mega-successful run, "Cheers" was absolutely appointment television. Not all "Cheers" cast members were in attendance for this recent "Today" interview recognizing the series finale and the influential series itself, but, man, to see some of their faces again is like seeing great old friends. And, all these years later, everyone certainly "knows their names."
