Kevin here. As a HUGE Van Halen fan, even at age 12 when Dave left, I was skeptical about how the band would sound when Sammy stepped in. But after one spin of the album 5150, I was hooked. Still loved the Dave stuff, but 5150 with Sammy was, to me, a statement album promising me that Van Halen would march on. In this video, Sammy and Michael Anthony reflect on the magical first jam session with Sammy and the creation of an album that, to me, totally holds up decades later.
