Dave Grohl Refrains from Cursing Onstage to Avoid One-Year Prison Sentence

Glastonbury Festival 2023 - Day 3

GLASTONBURY, ENGLAND - JUNE 23: Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters gestures to the sky after referring to the late drummer Taylor Hawkins as the band perform on the Pyramid Stage on Day 3 of Glastonbury Festival 2023 on June 23, 2023 in Glastonbury, England. Dave Grohl is known for letting the F-bombs fly at Foo Fighter concerts, so he needed some help to not curse during the band's show in Abu Dhabi on Sunday after the Grand Prix race. In the United Arab Emirates, cursing is strictly prohibited and dropping the F-word is a crime that's punishable by up to a year in prison! So to make sure he kept things clean, Grohl had a sign with "NO CURSING" written on it taped to the stage. He ended up showing the sign to the audience and then taped it to his mic stand. He told the crowd, “I think that’s the first time ever that I didn't curse at a show.” Next stop for the Foo Fighters is the very curse-friendly Australia.
