Influential blues-rock icon, John Mayall, died at the age of 90. He's best known for nurturing some of Britain's greatest musicians in his backing band The Bluesbreakers. During the mid-1960s when he hired, in succession, guitarists Eric Clapton, Fleetwood Mac founder Peter Green and future Rolling Stone Mick Taylor...also from his band, drummer Mick Fleetwood and bassist John McVie... of course from Fleetwood Mac... and Jack Bruce played in his band, he joined with Clapton to form Cream when they left the Bluesbreakers. This coming October, John Mayall was scheduled to receive the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's Musical Influence Award...it's assumed his family will be on hand to accept the award.
