Alex Van Halen's long-awaited book, Brothers, is coming out Tuesday, October 22, and he just did his first big interview with "Rolling Stone" after a very reclusive four years following the passing of his legendary guitar god brother, Eddie Van Halen.

In the "Rolling Stone" interview, Alex talks about the agonizing times leading up to and after Ed's death. He also revealed that he and his late brother were in talks to form a band with Ozzy Osbourne at one point, and that he turned to Queen's Brian May about how to continue without a key bandmember. He also made it very clear by simply not mentioning Sammy's name that he is NOT a fan of the Red Rocker.

All in all, Alex came out swinging a little more than I thought he might, even openly criticizing Eddie in a few instances about various choices he made and behaviors he exhibited. I had feared Al's "Brothers" book might be some soft, fluffy homage to brotherly love, etc., but this interview gave me hope that the book will be worth the read, especially for Van Halen nuts like me.
