Cinderella Stories Are Nice, But The Facts Are The Facts

Well with all the talk about Cinderella teams and brackets being blown up early in the tournament, after we all witnessed the historic ride of St Peter's to the Elite Eight, after believing that The Friars just might go all the way....

We are left with 4 of the bluest bloods in all of college basketball: Kansas, Villanova, Duke, and North Carolina.

Saint Peter's v North Carolina

PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA - MARCH 27: Armando Bacot #5 of the North Carolina Tar Heels and Fousseyni Drame #10 of the St. Peter's Peacocks battle for a rebound during the Elite Eight round game of the 2022 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament at Wells Fargo Center on March 27, 2022 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Since the field expanded to 64 teams in 1985, here are the cold hard facts...

One season all 4 number 1 seeds got to the Final Four

4 seasons had 3 number ones

14 seasons had 2 number 1 teams

15 times there was just 1 top seed in the last weekend

Doesn't leave a lot of room for Cinderellas.

There have been 60 number 1 seeds playing in the final weekend:

32 2seeds.....17 3 seeds....13 4 seeds.....7 5 seeds.....an 8 seed has made it 6 times, and an 11 seed made it 5 times. Outside of that no seed has been to the last weekend more than 3 times.

So remember next year, feel free to dream with the St Peters of the world. But when it comes to betting time, go with the same teams that always get there
