Mel Kiper had him 69th...Todd McShay had him 77th....and Bill took him 29th...
Tom E Curran said the LA Rams had him on their list of possibles for their pick at 104....Bill took him 75 picks earlier..
ESPN computers say there was a 93% chance he would be available when the Pats picked next at 54 ...93%!!!
Every other first round pick was either in Vegas at the draft and came up on stage or had a camera hookup at their house with friends and family....except our guy Cole Strange....nobody thought to send a camera to his house....1st round pick? Not a shot..

When 21 of the 22 starting jobs from scrimmage were locked up before the draft, it would be easy to laugh off a Cole Strange pick....

Well things are different now....
That QB we used to have is gone....So are most of the guys that helped bring in all those titles.....
The Pats were 7-9 in 2020 missing the playoffs and 10-7 in 2021 and a first round exit from the playoffs...
That is 17-17 in the Post Brady Era including that playoff drubbing by Buffalo....
The last 2 times they played the Bills, Buffalo never punted....not once....
The rest of the league is still playing checkers, but Bill is playing Yahtzee....( second Hasbro reference in blog...)
New England has lots of holes....many needs....a bunch of starting jobs vacant....
They cannot afford a Cole Strange with the 29th pick.....

The scouting reports say Strange can play well...you need talent to be a second or third round pick in the NFL Draft
This is about Bill...
Filling a need at an low value position in the first round...
A need that exists only because you wouldn't pay Shaq Mason....
Could've taken a CB, LB, DE or WR and had them on a rookie contract for years....
Nope ....Guard Cole Strange...with the 29th pick.....
