If the Bruins' Game 7 Collapse Is Bergeron's Final Bow, He Deserved Better

Florida Panthers v Boston Bruins - Game Seven

BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS - APRIL 30: Patrice Bergeron #37 of the Boston Bruins hugs Brad Marchand #63 before exiting the ice after Florida Panthers defeat the Bruins 4-3 in overtime of Game Seven of the First Round of the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs at TD Garden on April 30, 2023 in Boston, Massachusetts. Take a look at Patrice Bergeron on the ice after the loss to Florida in Game 7. Does that look like a guy who’s coming back to play again next year? I don’t think so.

He came back for one last year and took very little money, relatively speaking, so that the Bruins could afford to get the pieces necessary to win The Stanley Cup under the cap. This time the front office did their job and put together a championship roster, but the coaches and the players did not perform at that level in the first round. Because of that we may have seen the last of Number 37 on the ice for the Bruins.

If that is the case, he deserved a better ending to his career. Take a minute and watch Patrice say goodbye to his teammates and to the fans.

Goodbye for the season, or goodbye for good?
