Here's why Dolly is THE BEST!
Dolly Parton has withdrawn herself from consideration induction into the Rock Hall in a recent social media post:
"Dolly here! Even though I am extremely flattered and grateful to be nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, I don't feel that I have earned that right. I really do not want votes to be split because of me, so I must respectfully bow out. I do hope that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will understand and be willing to consider me again - if I'm ever worthy. This has, however, inspired me to put out a hopefully great rock 'n' roll album at some point in the future, which I have always wanted to do! My husband is a total rock 'n' roll freak, and has always encouraged me to do one. I wish all of the nominees good luck and thank you again for the compliment. Rock on!"

Is it wrong that now I want her in... and badly! I have been ranting and raving about the long list of performers I don't agree with being in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for years. It's generally not always because the nominees aren't incredibly talented or influential or deserving of the highest praise. It's more often a confusion about what the term, "Rock & Roll" should mean and does mean to me.
It's an argument almost as old as the Hall itself and of course we are all entitled to our opinions. I am just so happy to see someone, and someone whom I have an amazing amount of respect for and whose artistic and musical contributions are unquestionable, stand up and say what so many of us have been thinking: "I am not a Rock Star."
I hope Dolly does make a rock & roll album and I hope it is awesome... and with that, perhaps she will end up in the Hall of Fame. Thank you, Dolly. You make the world a better place!
