Def Leppard Headed for the Hall of Fame! Great musicians and good guys!!!
So the nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame were announced today and there's only one obvious band that will get in on their first year on the list. That would be Def Leppard! On just purely commercial success they should get in; they are the ONLY rock band to have two consecutive Diamond Awards (10 million units sold). But on an artistic side look back at the critics review of those giant selling albums of the 1980's. They mixed sparkling guitar riffs with beautiful harmonies and irresistible melodies. Admittedly, their lyrics were sort of dumb but it was never their intent to enlighten us on that front. They were (and still are) a group of very gifted artists who took the metal genre and put a beautiful pop polish on it. And, on a personal note, they are the most gracious group of rock stars that we have ever dealt with at 94 HJY!
