Fan voting for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame class of 2022 has now ended and the results are in. And, as in years past there is always controversy over what ‘defines’ rock and roll. Duran Duran finished way out on top with over 900,000 votes. It was a very close race for second place with rapper Eminem edging out Pat Benatar. Eurythmics and Dolly Parton came in at fourth and fifth place.
And Dolly has reversed her earlier comment about NOT accepting a nomination to the Hall. She now says she would gratefully accept it. She said the fan vote convinced her but also a letter from the Hall of Fame made the point that rock and roll has it’s roots in the blues and country music and that artists from those genres belong.
