Talk About "Heavy Metal" - Iron Maiden Fans Can Own Piece of Ed Force One!

ILA 2016 Berlin Air Show

SCHOENEFELD, GERMANY - JUNE 01: Ed Force One, the Boeing 747 passenger plane of British heavy metal rockers Iron Maiden, prepares for takeoff while piloted by band singer Bruce Dickinson at the ILA 2016 Berlin Air Show on June 1, 2016 in Schoenefeld, Germany. Iron Maiden played the night before in Berlin and were on their way to their next performance in Geneva. The ILA 2016 will be open to visitors from June 1-4. Iron Maiden's Ed Force One Boeing 747 was retired last year and cut up for scrap metal. So, what can you get for the Iron Maiden fan in your life who has (almost) everything Maiden? How about a piece of the plane?!

German company Aviationtag has made wearable tags from the scrapped airplane. All the initial batch of tags sold out in less than an hour, so the company has announced that another batch will go on sale soon.

Ed Force One pilot -- and Iron Maiden frontman -- Bruce Dickinson said that the tags are from "not just any old Boeing 747, but the Boeing 747 which I learned to fly so I could fly on Maiden around the world. So this is a bit of the airplane. It's been turned into something entirely more useful."
