Mystery solved: we now know why Brian May posted last week that he was in LA for "a very special little job."

That "job" was a guest appearance on Friday at the Coachella festival in Indio, CA, outside Palm Springs, where May joined singer Benson Boone for Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody".

May and Boone caught a private jet to Palm Springs for the show and may posted photos on Instagram, captioning one photo with, "Gonna treasure this moment on the plane with Benson Boone — a truly golden 22 year old prodigy. I'm proud and happy to say we are now officially pals."

And the day after the show, May wrote, I'm still reeling from [Friday] night at Coachella. Thanks to all of you folks who made it feel so special — you know who you are!!!! And this particular way of concluding 'Bohemian Rhapsody' will be hard to beat in the years to come!!! Thanks. And for Benson and his entire team, I have no words. I'm awestruck."

No word on if May will reprise his role for Coachella's second weekend later this week.
